Weekly Meals for a Widow Living Alone in Taman Setia

Challenge

A 77-year-old woman living alone. Her daughter in KL arranged the shopping remotely by phone, which often led to duplicated items, forgotten staples, and a fridge full of food that did not form sensible meals. The arrangement was stressful for both of them.

What Almora Arranged

Almora took over weekly menu planning and grocery coordination. An initial session established the client's preferences β€” mostly simple Malay cooking, nothing too elaborate. From week two, a written menu was shared with the daughter before ordering, with a brief note on any changes from the previous week.

Outcome β€” After 8 Weeks

The daughter reported fewer phone calls about missing items. The older client mentioned she had started looking forward to the weekly menu rather than finding meals stressful to manage. Food waste reduced noticeably. The daughter has continued the service for six months.

Family Visit for a Chinese New Year Gathering in Permas Jaya

Challenge

An elderly couple had always hosted extended family gatherings at home. In recent years the effort had become overwhelming β€” the wife found the preparation too much to manage alone, and the husband did not want to move the gathering elsewhere as it was a long-standing family tradition.

What Almora Arranged

Two weeks before the gathering, Almora prepared a written occasion plan with the couple. Coordination of helpers was handled by Almora, including confirming a catering helper and arranging table setup. On the day, an Almora team member was present to manage any issues that came up so the couple could focus on being with their family.

Outcome

The gathering took place as it always had β€” at the family home. The couple described the day as one of the more relaxed gatherings in recent memory. The family has since used occasion support for a birthday and is planning to use it again for Mooncake Festival.
